It’s that time of year when both influencers and celebrities appear on our screens once more in the most pressured and stressful of environments. That’s right, it’s the return of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
Ex-special forces operators push these celebrities and influencers to their limits, with gruelling challenges that put their mental and physical strength to the test.
Previous years have welcomed the likes of Vicky Pattison, Joey Essex, Wes Nelson, and Kerry Katona - all proving their resilience in the fierce challenges.
This year will bring a brand-new line-up, all from different backgrounds and industries. Here are just some of this year’s cast...
Ashley Cain
Ex-footballer and reality TV star, Ashely Cain, will be testing his grit and determination on this year’s series of SAS: Who Dares Wins. He’s been on our screens on programmes such as Ex on the Beach but has become a strong presence on social media in the last year.
Heartbreakingly, Ashley’s daughter, Azaylia, passed away after a battle with Leukeamia at just eight months old. He has taken to Instagram to share memories, support and to raise both awareness and funds for childhood cancer, setting up The Azaylia Foundation to honour her memory.
His sporting background and playful personality, mixed with the emotional struggle he has endured, will make him a tough competitor in this series as well as a great match for brands within the health and fitness industry.
Amber Gill
Former Love Island winner Amber Gill has risen to fame after taking part in ITV’s hottest reality show in 2019. She has since progressed in her career, starting out as a beautician pre-villa, to now being a successful social media influencer, Miss Pap ambassador, and more recently, author of her very own book.
She was a feisty, outspoken character on Love Island, and has since become a fitness influencer and has launches her own fitness brand – both key characteristics and traits that would benefit her in such a straining challenge. Will the new environment be a test that Amber can conquer? We’re sure of it!
Maisie Smith
Actress, dancer, singer and social media influencer, Maisie Smith, has a plethora of talents. She’s appeared on our TV screens from the age of six as Tiffany Butcher on BBC soap opera Eastenders and became a Strictly favourite in 2020.
A lot less glamorous than she may be used to, we are excited to see if she can apply the same persistence to the SAS: Who Dares Wins challenges that she has been able to thrive off throughout her career thus far.
Curtis and AJ Pritchard
These two brothers will be joining the SAS: Who Dares Wins line-up this year, showcasing their similarities and differences in how they cope under pressure. Curtis, the younger of the two, has appeared on our TV screens on a number of occasions, including Love Island, Hollyoaks alongside his brother, as well as being known for his career as a professional dancer. AJ is best known for his stint as a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing and has appeared in I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
Both brothers have taken to acting and presenting, and often come as a pair – and clearly, are no strangers to a challenge or reality TV show. However, this will be a challenge like no other, testing their mental and physical abilities in much more demanding and brutal circumstances than the dancefloor.
Ferne McCann
Ferne McCann first appeared on our screens when she starred in reality TV show, The Only Way is Essex. She has since launched her own show, Ferne McCann: First Time Mum, sharing her experience raising daughter Sunday which has added to her popularity and success as a parenting influencer.
A renowned TV personality and social media influencer, Ferne’s lavish lifestyle mixed with mum duties is the provider of wholesome content on her Instagram, making her the perfect match for many brands.
She proved to be a strong-willed, determined character in I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and this may stand her in good stead for the intense challenges to come during her time of SAS: Who Dares Wins..
Calum Best
TV personality and entrepreneur, Calum Best, will also be attempting the challenges this year. Son of footballer George Best, Calum is no stranger to reality TV as he has previously appeared on Celebrity Big Brother, Celebs Go Dating, and the original Love Island.
His Instagram content consists of mindfulness posts, where he discusses mental health and wellbeing, as well as showcasing his physical health and fitness regimes – putting him in great stead for future collaborations with brands of a similar vein.
We look forward to seeing how he copes under pressure and seeing whether his mental and physical stamina can withstand the ultimate test.
Jade Jones
Olympic taekwondo champion, Jade Jones will be joining this year’s line-up of SAS contestants and is gearing up to take part in TV’s most challenging reality TV show. Jade has won gold for her taekwondo skills at the Olympics and has been awarded an MBE and OBE for her service to the sport, and we’re sure these skills will aid her in her latest journey.
It is clear to see from her Instagram that Jade is dedicated, ambitious and hardworking, sharing videos of her taekwondo training and motivational posts around persevering with sport – making her the ideal health and fitness influencer. Her grit and resilience will hopefully fuel her success for her toughest challenge yet.
Amongst these celebrities stepping up to the SAS: Who Dares Wins challenge, we will also see Fatima Whitbread, Jennifer Ellison, Shannon Courtenay, Dwain Chambers and Jonathan Broom-Edwards join them in the ultimate physical and mental test.
Who will be brave enough to conquer the SAS selection course?
