The Traitors has captivated audiences with its gripping twists, strategic gameplay and dramatic betrayals, becoming one of British television’s standout hits.
The Traitors
The Traitors is a hit British reality TV series hosted by Claudia Winkleman on BBC One. Based on the Dutch TV series, De Verraders, The Traitors has become one of the UK’s most-watched reality game shows, with over 11.7 million people watching the first episode of The Celebrity Traitors, with 2.2 million of those viewers aged 16-34.
What is the Format of The Traitors?
The Traitors begins with all contestants arriving at the grand castle as “Faithful”. Soon after, a select few contestants are chosen to become a “Traitor”. Together, the Faithfuls must work together to uncover the Traitors hidden among them, while the Traitors work together to remain undetected and eliminate their rivals. Throughout the course of the show, Traitors can recruit new members on their quest for survival.
Contestants gather around the Round Table to debate and vote on who they believe to be a Traitor, until they reach a verdict and banish a contestant. The Traitors also select a contestant to “murder”, where a Faithful is removed from the competition, and the other contestants discover who they are in the morning. Both sides take part in team challenges called “Missions”, earning money for the shared prize pot that can reach the value of £120,000.
Only one side can claim the winnings at the end of the game. If the Faithfuls banish all Traitors, then the remaining Faithfuls will win the money. If any Traitors remain, they win the money.
