Gemma Atkinson is an English influencer, actress, radio presenter and model from Manchester. Best known for her multiple roles in several British soap operas, Gemma has appeared in Hollyoaks, Casualty and Emmerdale, and has since taken part in a number of reality television shows.

From 2001 to 2005, Gemma took on the role of Lisa Hunter in Hollyoaks, as well as appearing in three separate Hollyoaks spin-off series throughout. In 2011, Gemma returned to soap opera when she played the role of Tamzin Bayle in Casualty for a year until returning once again in 2014. A year late and Gemma took another role, this time playing Carly Hope in Emmerdale for a further two years.

Alongside this impressive portfolio of acting, we have seen Gemma take part in a range of reality television shows across the years. In 2007, we saw Gemma reach the last four in ITV’s Soapstar Superstar, after performing songs from the likes of Kylie Minogue, Sting and Pink. Followed by her appearance down under, taking part in the seventh series of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! Where she finished fifth.

Gemma’s most recent reality television appearance came back in 2017, when she competed in the fifteenth series of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing alongside professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec. Although she finished as a runner-up on the show, she definitely won elsewhere as during the competition, Gemma met her now-fiancé, Gorka Marquez.

Since then, the couple have welcomed their first baby and Gemma took to her social media pages to document her journey as a first time mum. Throughout her pregnancy, Gemma proved that although pregnant, women can still exercise and stay healthy. Keeping things real and honest throughout her pregnancy, Gemma documented the very real changes that women go through.

After giving birth to their daughter Mia, Gemma was brutally honest about the difficulties she faced during labour and throughout her postpartum recovery and continues to share her experiences of parenthood.

Gemma is currently a radio show host and presenter for Hits Radio UK, where she hosts the drive time radio show alongside co-presenter Mike Toolan. However, her extensive job list and skillset doesn’t end there! Gemma is also a two-time author, with her books The Ultimate Body Plan and The Ultimate Body Plan for New Mums, inspiring and encouraging her large following to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Alongside this work, and being a huge animal lover, Gemma is passionate about animals being treated with love and compassion. This being said, Gemma has been an advocate for a number of animal cruelty laws and is now the President of Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary. Gemma has also taken on charitable runs and walks, including walking along the 142 mile long Great Wall of China back in April 2008, as well as multiple 10 kilometre runs for various charities.
