Troye Sivan is a global superstar of many talents. Having found international popularity as a singer-songwriter, actor and vlogger, his career in the public eye has known many highlights.

It was during the mid-2000s that he started to make a name for himself as a singer unaware that he would go on to become one of the biggest social media influencers and rising to prominence as a star of video-sharing platform YouTube. Since then, Troye has gone on to become a major influence in music, online and within the LGBT community. Influencer Matchmaker takes a closer look at his journey towards the top of both the entertainment and YouTube ranks.

YouTube Stardom

Troye took his first steps into the world of YouTube when he began posting videos of his musical talents. Within a few years, he had also begun to create his own vlogs, which featured challenges, tips and tricks, stunts and much more. Before long, his channel began to receive thousands of views daily.

Proving to be a hit with audiences all over the world, Troye's magnetic personality and exciting content helped him establish a massive online following, growing his channel from 27,000 subscribers to more than 4 million between 2007 and 2016.

He became one of the most famous YouTubers in the process, working alongside several well-known YouTube stars. Some of his most successful videos feature fellow YouTube star Tyler Oakley - just one of these videos has racked up an astonishing 11 million views to date.

By this time, Troye had already become one of YouTube's brightest stars. His fame on the platform proved to be instrumental in driving his success in other areas, helping to further establish his name in music and acting.

Venture Into Music

Showing unquestionable musical talent, Troye's venture into music began at an early age.

One of his first major public performances came in the form of the Channel Seven Perth Telethon, a televised fundraising event organised by Australian philanthropist Sir James Cruthers. Troye performed at the event on several occasions, teaming up with Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian for the 2006 edition of the show. Proving popular with the viewing audience, Troye was well on his way towards becoming a global music icon.

Having reached the final stage of StarSearch in 2007, Troye began work on what would become his debut musical release. His EP Dare to Dream saw the light of day that same year, and he took part in several performances in the years that followed. He soon caught the eye of record label EMI Australia, marking his first big break in music.

His EP TRXYE - which featured the single Happy Little Pill - proved to be a resounding success, claiming the top spot on iTunes in more than fifty countries around the world.

A second EP, Wild, followed soon after, and it wasn't long before he began work on his debut studio album Blue Neighbourhood. He would also go on to work with some of the biggest stars in music today, including collaborations with the likes of Martin Garrix and Ariana Grande. His second album Bloom was released in August 2018, and featured one of his biggest hits to date - My My My!.

Acting Success

Aside from his musical success, Troye is also an accomplished actor. Having played the lead role in Oliver! in 2007, he soon went on to play in a number of films, which include performances in Bertrand the Terrible and Spud. One of his biggest acting achievements saw him play the role of James Howlett in the Marvel Comics blockbuster X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which was released in 2009. As if that’s not enough, he is also set to feature in the upcoming film Boy Erased, which will see him star alongside the likes of Nicole Kidman.

The Power of Influencer Marketing

Troye's success as a YouTube icon and its role in shaping his stardom stands testament to the power of influencer marketing campaigns. Having helped him reach a global audience across several online platforms, the world of social media influencers has created a wealth of opportunities for brands.
