2020 is almost over, which means it’s time for our yearly roundup of the most liked photos on Instagram.
With one billion monthly active users on the app, Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms on the market. And with the introduction of brand-new features, will photos be overtaken by Reels? Either way, Instagram is here to stay and if we’re not posting, we are most definitely scrolling.Â
So, have you been wondering if the famous egg from 2019 is still sat firmly at the top spot? Well, let’s find out!Â
1. World Record EggÂ
Yes, the world record egg has done it again! This tiny egg has continued to break the internet and Kylie Jenner’s previous record of 18 million likes.Â
With almost 55 million likes on Instagram, it is going to take something truly special to beat it!Â
2. XXXTentacionÂ
The second most liked photo on Instagram is from XXXTentacion. This image was the final post before his tragic death in 2018.
This post has gained a further nine million likes since our blog last year, with fans continuing to show their love and appreciation of the artist. Now, the post has reached over 22 million likes.Â
3. Cristiano RonaldoÂ
Just to warn you all – this won’t be the first or last time you see Ronaldo’s name pop up throughout this blog!Â
First up, is a post dedicated to his friend and football legend, Diego Maradona, who sadly passed away. In just six days, the post amassed 19.3 million likes and the tribute was truly lovely.Â
4. Chadwick BosemanÂ
Another sad post. Chadwick’s family took to Instagram to share the news of his passing after a long battle with cancer.
The image shared was a true reflection of his personality and character and the caption shows his dedication and love for his career.Â
5. Kylie JennerÂ
The announcement of Stormi Webster’s arrival features yet again in this blog. The anticipation took over the Internet last year, so it is no surprise that it still remains in the top five liked posts on Instagram with over 18.5 million likes.Â
Similarly to Christiano Ronaldo, expect to see a lot more of Kylie throughout this blog.Â
6. Jennifer AnistonÂ
The Instagram post that had Friends fans from all over the world jumping up and down with excitement, Jennifer Aniston uploaded a selfie with her former co-stars.
With over 16 million likes, Jen just missed out on making it into the top five.
7. Lionel MessiÂ
As well as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi also took to Instagram to pay tribute to a true inspiration to football, Diego Maradona.
Lionel’s post takes the seventh spot with just over 16 million likes.Â
8. Kylie Jenner (again!)Â
Yep, Kylie is in the top ten twice! But this time, it’s for wishing Travis Scott a happy birthday.Â
With lots of sweet family snaps and a heartfelt caption dedicated to Stormi’s dad, the post received 15.9 million likes and plenty of emotional comments from fans.Â
9. TentreeÂ
In a bid to create the world’s most sustainable Instagram post, tentree pledged to plant trees in exchange for likes.
Although posted in April 2019, Instagram followers are continuing to like the post and tentree are still planting trees. With over 15.5 million likes and over half a million trees planted so far, we’d call it a huge success!Â
10. LeBron JamesÂ
January this year, we lost yet another sports hero. Kobe Bryant tragically lost his life alongside his daughter in a helicopter crash. The news shook the world, and his good friend and fellow sports star LeBron James took to Instagram to remember Kobe.Â
The post received over 15 million likes.
