Martin Roberts is a seasoned British television presenter, property expert, and author, widely recognised for his longstanding role on the BBC's Homes Under the Hammer. Born on 20 July 1963 in Warrington, Cheshire, Roberts studied Electronic Engineering at the University of Bradford before embarking on a career in broadcasting. He began his media journey with BBC Radio Manchester in the late 1980s and later became a regular presenter on ITV's travel show Wish You Were Here...?

Since 2003, Roberts has been a central figure on Homes Under the Hammer, guiding viewers through the intricacies of property auctions and renovations. His approachable demeanour and insightful commentary have made the show a staple of daytime television. Beyond this, he has appeared on various programmes, including Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is, How to Survive the Property Crisis, and Celebrity MasterChef. In 2016, he participated in I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!, finishing in sixth place.

Roberts is also an accomplished author, having penned several books on property investment, such as Teach Yourself: Making Money from Property and The Property Auction Guide. His passion for education extends to children's literature with his The Villes series, aimed at promoting emotional wellbeing among young readers. In addition, he hosts a weekly property show, Home Rule, on TalkRadio, where he discusses various aspects of the property market.

In recent years, Roberts faced a significant health challenge, undergoing emergency heart surgery in 2022 after being diagnosed with pericardial effusion. This life-altering experience inspired him to invest in the renovation of the historic Hendrewen Hotel in Blaencwm, Wales, transforming it into a community hub and training centre for local youths. Despite setbacks, including flooding that delayed the project by nine months, Roberts remains committed to making a positive impact through his work.
