About George Clarke...

George Clarke is a renowned British architect, television presenter, and writer, celebrated for making architecture accessible and inspiring through his engaging storytelling. Born in Sunderland in 1974, Clarke's passion for design was ignited by his grandfathers, both builders, and a pivotal moment came when his grandfather gifted him a book on architecture at age 12. Determined to pursue his dream, he left school at 16 to work for a local architect, later earning a first-class degree from Newcastle University and a postgraduate diploma from the Bartlett School of Architecture at UCL.

Clarke's television career began in 2005 with Channel 5's Build a New Life in the Country. He soon became a familiar face on Channel 4, hosting popular series like The Restoration Man, Old House New Home, and George Clarke's Amazing Spaces, which has aired since 2012. His shows often spotlight creative transformations of unconventional spaces, reflecting his belief that architecture can profoundly impact everyday life.

In 2024, Clarke launched George Clarke: Building Home, a series that follows individuals returning to their roots to build dream homes, emphasising emotional connections to place and community. Beyond television, he founded Amazing Productions and the educational charity MOBIE (Ministry of Building Innovation and Education), aiming to inspire young people to engage with home design and construction.

Clarke's commitment to social issues is evident in his advocacy for better housing solutions. He has worked with charities like Shelter and The Prince’s Foundation and served as an independent adviser to the UK government on empty homes policy.

Despite his public persona, Clarke remains grounded, often reflecting on personal experiences, including the tragic loss of his father at age seven, which instilled in him a resolve to live life fully . He resides in a renovated 1960s home in West London, a testament to his design philosophy that homes should be both functional and deeply personal.
