Dr Emeka Okorocha is a TikTok star and A&E Doctor who rose to fame during the country’s Covid-19 lockdown as his viral videos became a go-to source for healthcare advice and support during the pandemic.

Growing up in Kent to Nigerian parents, Emeka comes from a family of medics. His grandfather was a doctor, and his father was an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultant, so Emeka knew he wanted to be a doctor from an early age.

Studying medicine at the University of East Anglia, Emeka has since appeared on BBC Three’s reality medical show, Junior Doctors: Blood, Sweat and Tears. The show follows Emeka, alongside six other newly qualified junior doctors, as he completes his second year at Wolverhampton’s New Cross Hospital.

Outside of his time on the wards, Emeka is heir to the throne in his province in Nigeria. Being third in line to the crown, Emeka’s paternal grandfather is currently king, and is the reason for Emeka’s nickname, “Prince”.

As a result of his royal heritage, Emeka has a passion for fashion, priding himself on looking the part at work. The self-proclaimed “new medical fashion icon” displays tailor-made shirts and ties as he likes to fittingly dress like a prince.
