About Briony May Williams...

Briony May Williams is a British celebrity chef and television presenter. Most known for her appearance on the ninth series of reality television baking show The Great British Bake Off, Briony reached the semi-finals finishing fourth. On her journey to the top 4, the talented baker earned a Star Baker accolade for her amazing Alice in Wonderland pie.

Born with a physical birth defect in her left hand, Briony didn’t let this stop her as she returned a year later to appear in the one-off Christmas special, The Great Christmas Bake Off, which saw her claim the title and walk out as the winner!

Before her stint in the famous white tent, Briony studied Spanish and French at university, and then went on to become a secondary school teacher. She has always had a passion for baking, though, often helping her mother and grandma in the kitchen when she was a young girl.

It wasn’t until 2013 when she started to take her baking seriously. After having time off work through illness, Briony used her time to bake and followed YouTube videos to teach herself and perfect her trade. She discovered she was a natural and has since blossomed in her baking career!

After her appearance on GBBO, Briony has explored the world of presenting. Now starring on Channel 4’s Food Unwrapped, Briony travels the world to research different types of food and drink. She also currently presents the reality housing show Escape to the Country.

Briony has also made several television appearances on talk shows, panel shows, children’s shows and game shows, as well as regularly writing food and recipe columns for BristolLife and Asda’s Good Living – her range of talents is admirable!

Briony is also a big supporter of a wide range of charities, including serving as an ambassador for disability charities Reach and Paul’s Place, and she also raised funds for Sport Relief by taking part in a 5km run in 2020!
