An influencer, business owner and entrepreneur. Here, we look back on Molly-Mae Hague's journey to social media stardom...Â
Who is Molly-Mae Hague?Â
Molly-Mae Hague is now one of the biggest names online, and for good reason, too.Â
She began her career as a social media influencer before appearing on our screens as part of the hottest show on TV, and now, her career has continued to go from strength to strength.Â
Life before social media: 2015 - 2018Â
Before trying to establish a career online, Molly-Mae spent many of her teenage years competing in beauty pageants.
After competing in her very first pageant, Miss Teen Great Britain in 2015, she enjoyed the experience so much that she returned the following year and was crowned World Teen Supermodel UK.Â
Molly-Mae also travelled to China where she competed in World Teen Supermodel, where she finished as a runner up.Â
Prior to finding fame (and love) on ITV’s fifth series of Love Island, Molly-Mae was already working as a social media influencer, but not to the same capacity as she is now.Â

2019Â
At the young age of 20, Molly-Mae rocked the entire Love Island villa when she entered as a bombshell arrive on day four.
Since meeting on her first day in the villa, Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury coupled up almost straight away and continued to remain a solid couple throughout the rest of the series.Â
Series five of Love Island is also the highest-rated series to date with an average of 5.61 million views and, proving incredibly popular with fans of the show, it is no doubt that Molly-Mae played a pivotal role in this impressive achievement.
Whilst Molly-Mae and Tommy had their fair share of difficulties throughout the series, the loved-up couple came out on top (well, almost), as they finished the show in second place.
However, they are now the only couple still together from series five and are continuing to go through monumental stages of their lives with one another.
It wasn’t just Molly-Mae who rose to fame during 2019, though. Her beloved stuffed elephant, Elly-Belly, became just as iconic as Tommy and Molly-Mae's relationship throughout the series.
It wasn’t long after leaving the Love Island villa that Molly-Mae moved Tommy into her Manchester home, before finding a place of their own.
And, just months after the show ended, Molly-Mae launched her very own clothing collection with online fashion giant, PrettyLittleThing.
Having shot the collection in sunny Los Angeles, it was clear that the collaboration was going to be a huge success – and it was! Many of the items sold out almost instantly.Â
Not only was Molly-Mae recognised for her incredible sense of style and impact on the fashion industry, but for her statement and signature curls, too.Â
Renowned for the infamous top knot and big bouncy curls, Molly-Mae also collaborated with Beauty Works to launch the Beauty Works X Molly Mae Curl Kit.
2019 was a BIG year for Molly-Mae, and it doesn’t stop there. As well as collaborating with some of the biggest names within the fashion and beauty industries, she also launched her very own range of tanning products, Filter by Molly-Mae, at the end of the year.

2020Â
For many, due to the coronavirus pandemic, 2020 was a relatively quiet year. However, that didn’t stop Molly-Mae from working hard to reach her goals.Â
In 2020, Molly-Mae continued to work with brands such as PrettyLittleThing and Beauty Works, as well as develop and launch new products for Filter.Â
Molly-Mae launched a brand-new collaboration with Beauty Works with the highly anticipated Waver Kit.Â
A monumental year for many reasons, Molly-Mae also reached an impressive Instagram milestone of four million followers. She also turned 21, as did her boyfriend Tommy Fury.Â
Aware of her influence on the younger generation, Molly-Mae had her fillers dissolved, encouraging others to embrace their natural bodies and features.Â
Continuing to raise awareness of incredibly important topics, Molly took to YouTube to explain that she had had a mole removed and it was in fact cancerous. Incredibly brave, Molly-Mae shared the entire experience in a detailed video and encouraged everybody to regularly check their moles.
2021Â
As we move further and further into 2021, it becomes even more apparent that Molly-Mae is a force to be reckoned with.
Keen to be recognised as much more than just a Love Islander and more of an entrepreneur, Molly-Mae has demonstrated her ambition, drive and commitment to making a name for herself – and that, she has most definitely done.
So far, we have seen Molly-Mae rock long hair, short hair, comfy clothes and red carpet glam – is there anything she can’t do?
Not only has Molly-Mae launched even more clothing collections with PLT, but now she has gone one step further. So much so, that this move may well have cemented her place as the most successful influencer to come from Love Island...
Announcing that she is the new creative director of PrettyLittleThing for UK and EU (yes, you read that right!), Molly-Mae is proving that if you really push yourself, then the opportunities available to you are endless.
Fortunate enough to travel abroad for work, Molly-Mae has been regularly jetting off around the world, allowing all of her loyal followers to live vicariously through her glamorous life.
If that wasn’t enough, 2021 has also seen Molly-Mae buy her first car, celebrate her 22nd birthday, support Tommy in his boxing career, and so much more.
Molly-Mae has also given fans a raw and detailed insight into her life and career as an influencer, as she took to YouTube with her manager to discuss all thing’s business, management, and money.
A breath of fresh air to the industry, and inspiring women to achieve their dreams, we have a feeling this is only the beginning for Molly-Mae...
But for now, you’re looking at the new creative director for PLT, and what a title and achievement that is!
