Sophie Faldo is the 2017 winner of the hit baking show, The Great British Bake Off. Since then, she has gone on to explore a variety of working ventures, from presenting to starting up her own business.

Sophie studied a master’s degree in psychology, and then joined the British Army as an Officer in the Royal Artillery. She served in Afghanistan up until 2012 where she became a reservist, stepping down from her usual role. 

Sophie came across baking when she volunteered to bake her friend a birthday cake. She discovered she had natural talent and ever since then continued baking as a hobby. This enabled her to reach a standard so good that she earned a place on GBBO. 

Since then, Sophie has started her own business called Sophie Faldo Couture Cakes, which specialises in creating custom bespoke confections, such as wedding and birthday cakes. Sophie also tried out presenting when she co-presented an episode of a television series called “Travels with a goat”. This saw Sophie journey through southern Kenya with Spanish food vlogger and blogger, Abraham Bandera Baez.

Now residing in Surrey, Sophie enjoys track cycling and rowing, and she also runs a military-styled boot camp – she is excitingly also training to be a stunt woman! It’s no surprise that Sophie made the shortlist for the Woman of the Future award with her ambitious and hard-working nature.
