Helena Garcia is a British-Spanish baker who appeared on the tenth series of the reality television show The Great British Bake Off. The self-proclaimed ‘Witch’ was born in north Africa and grew up in the Canary island Lanzarote, before going on to study in mainland Spain. Moving to Leeds as part of her studies, Helena now resides there, with her family. The talented baker made a name for herself on the show due to her unique personality and love for Halloween.

Being an online project manager, Helena decided to apply for the show after winning a baking competition at work. Her time in the famous white tent saw her use her preferred American flavours such as pumpkin, pecans, maple, and cinnamons in her bakes. Helena also likes to explore her own heritage by using traditional Spanish flavours like almonds and paprika, putting a twist on her creations.

She describes her self-proclaimed title of being a ‘Witch’ as a representation of her character as she is a strong woman who knows her way around some of the earth’s most mystical and medicinally pungent natural ingredients, which is clearly shown throughout her baking.

Obsessed with the holiday of Halloween, Helena often gives her bakes a wicked twist. With her eerily clever ideas, Helena makes gruesome and scary cakes and treats. As a result of this love for the spooky season, Helena released a cookbook called ‘The Wicked Baker: Cakes and Treats to die for’. The cookbook includes her creepy bakes and step-by-step recipes on how to make them for yourself.
